PESHAWAR โ Khyber Pakhtunkhwa[KP] ‘Governor Ghulam Ali’ on Saturday(January-21) administrated oath to former bureaucrat Azam Khan as the caretaker CM.
Earlier, the governor issued the order after outgoing CM Mahmood Khan & leader of opposition ‘Akram Khan Durrani’ unanimously nominated the name of Azam for the position in a surprise move on Friday.
โI, GHULAM ALI, the Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa[KP], hereby appoint Mr. Azam Khan, as the Caretaker CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP), in terms of Clause (IA) of the Article 224 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan 1973,โ the governorโs order reads.

“Muhammad Azam Khan” has had a long & illuminous career as a civil servant in the Government of Pakistan. He has served as the KP(Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) minister for finance, planning & development & the federal secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources & the federal secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Earlier, he held important positions in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government where he served as the chief secretary & secretary of some ministries. Mr Azam was educated at the University of Peshawar, following which he went to Lincolnโs Inn, London to complete his Barrister-at-Law degree.
