Rameez Raja goes to bat for skipper Babar

LAHORE – Former PCB chairman Rameez Raja said on Wednesday(January-11) that despite the team’s success in the white ball format, skipper Babar Azam was being forced into pointless controversies.

Mr Rameez lauded the team after the victory over New Zealand in the first ODI & noted that both Babar and Rizwan were under a lot of pressure. “Anything that puts pressure on the team detracts itself from the playing environment,” Rameez added.

At the news conference, Mr Rameez said pointed questions were being posed to Babar Azam & he was being forced into pointless controversies.

Ramiz Raja said that in the last 2 years, the team’s performance was distinguished by the fact that it kept itself out of contention.

Saying that Rizwan’s energy should be channelled in the right direction, Mr Rajmeez claimed that Rizwan was recklessly removed from the vice captaincy. “I believe it was a careless choice that puts more pressure on the team as Babar Azam & Rizwan have a comfort level,” he said.
